2007 Bay Boat Club Operating Rules
Revised March 2004
All members and
guests are subject to the following rules and regulations of Bay Boat Club.
Violation of any of the following Rules and Regulations will be subject to
immediate review by the Board of Trustees and may cause loss of membership
Members must accompany
their guests and will be accountable for the actions of their guests.
No guest watercraft is
permitted except by prior arrangement (each time) with the Commodore or
Fleet Captain.
All members are required
to notify the BBC Membership Chairman of any new watercraft which will be
used at BBC. Current BBC registration stickers are required for each
watercraft using the BBC facility. The sticker shall be affixed to the aft
port side of the watercraft.
The rule of launching
when others are waiting is one boat in, one boat out. That means that the
second boat waiting to launch allows one boat recovery before blocking the
ramp and conversely, the second boat waiting for recovery allows a boat to
launch before blocking the dock area. In the event of an emergency
(inclement weather, breakdowns, medical emergency, boat in tow, etc) the
recovering boat shall have the way over others.
All set up for launch
must be completed in the designated area (East, South and Northeast of the
clubhouse), not on ramp or approaches to ramps.
All watercraft under
power MUST observe an idle zone off the Boat Club when south of the
tip of the jetty located to the west. This area is approximately 100 feel
north from the dock. Water skiing from the Bay Boat Club shall be in
accordance with all Ohio regulations. In no event shall water skiing be
permitted within the idle zone.
Watercraft are not to be
tied up while waiting for passengers, while giving instruction in the
handling of craft, and while loading non-essential gear. At no time should
a watercraft be tied up and unattended.
Each member has an
obligation to help keep the grounds clean.
Swimming is not
permitted within fifty feet (50’) of the dock. Pets must be on leash and
must observe the 50’ clear area from dock
There will be no
fishing, skateboarding, bicycling, or other non boating related activity
permitted on the dock.
It is the responsibility
of each Bay Boat Club member to ensure that his/her watercraft(s) meet all
State of Ohio and Coast Guard Regulations. An operator of any watercraft is
legally responsible as a captain of a watercraft for his/her actions.
In accordance with the
Cahoon Will, no boating, bathing, or organized sports shall be permitted on
Sundays. In addition, no alcoholic beverages will be consumed on the Bay
Boat Club property.
Parking along the west
and east side of the Bay Boat Club property is reserved for cars with
trailers. Single cars (without trailers) shall park in the areas which
cannot accommodate car/trailer combinations.
Boat/trailer combination
will be limited to a maximum gross weight of 8,000 pounds, or 5,000 for
single axle trailers.
All facilities will be
locked after use.
Any damage or vandalism
to Bay Boat Club property will be repaired, replaced, or reimbursed by the
person(s) responsible.
Under no circumstances
shall a member allow a nonmember to use his/her access card or duplicate the
club access key.
The BBC facility shall
not be used for commercial purposes (i. e. dealer demonstrations of boats
for sale, fishing charter, etc.).
Definition: A
watercraft is any vessel that may or may not require a state registration
number and decal. This can include power boats of any length, sail boats of
any length, inflatables, row boats, personal watercraft (jet-skis), kayaks,
canoes, and sailboards (even though they need no state registration)
A commonsense

you launch or recover your boat
Don’t tie up ramps or

Please extend courtesy
to your fellow boaters
